It's Official! - Microsoft announces FS X

I've been awaiting this moment for quite some time now. FS 10, or FS X, has finally been announced with the opening of CES by keynote speaker, Bill Gates. Flightsim.com has published a great press release that includes an FAQ and many screenshots. If you want to see what the next gen flight sim experience will entail, head on over to give a read!

Now that the cat is out of the bag, we should be hearing more and more about the technology that is going into this new version of FS from the many FS dev blogs. It is all very exciting news, for the ACES team, 3rd party developers (such as myself), and end-users! Bravo ACES on the work thus far - I look forward to the progress!!

Hi Mike,

The details are light on details on purpose - the program is still in alpha, meaning that features may or may not be included, and they don't want to create unrealistic expectations if some of what they claim early on isn't included in the RTM version. Believe me, this will be an exciting year to follow the progress!

Yes, great news for all of us! I'm excited to see the eye candy, but can't wait to hear for MS on how much they've improved on realism and flight charactaristics.

I can't wait to take that Goose for a spin! WOOHOO!

It's funny how many people are already basing their opinions on FSX based on a handful of screenshots. Of course, when FS9 came out, there was a number of people who said that it was just a glorified FS2002. Gives meaning to the phrase, "The more things change, the more things stay the same."
